Kicking Horse sliding accident claims life of Calgary man
An early-morning sliding venture at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort near Golden turned tragic for a 27-year-old Calgary man.
During the early hours of Boxing Day, a group of individuals hiked up a kilometer from the bottom of the ski hill.
The man slid down a run near tower five of the Catamount chair lift, on a “sliding device,” and crashed into a wooden post.
The group of individuals immediately called 9-1-1, and the heavily-injured man was transported to Golden and District Hospital where he died of injuries.
Kicking Horse Mountain, which does not permit night-time sliding, said this is the first time a person has died from a sliding incident at the resort.
RCMP is now investigating the accident.
The victim’s name is not being released upon his family’s request.
