Nelson Police to conduct independent investigation into arrest made by Penticton RCMP

 The Nelson Police Department has been called into investigate an arrest of a man by RCMP on New Year’s Eve in the South Okanagan City of Penticton.

On Saturday, December 31, about 11:30 pm a man allegedly stumbled onto the street in front of a RCMP vehicle.The police officer stopped to talk to the man, who appeared to be intoxicated. A struggle with police ensued and the man suffered an injury to his leg. He was taken to hospital where it was determined that his leg was broken.The Penticton RCMP are confirming that the Nelson Police Department has been called into to conduct an independent investigation into the incident.

As per policy, this matter is being investigated independently.
