Trail couple arrested and charged after weapons incident

On Jan. 5, police received a report of threatening with firearm that occurred the previous day at a residence in East Trail. There was a verbal confrontation between two individuals on the street that ended with one of them lifting his shirt to reveal what appeared to be a handgun tucked in his waistband. The suspect then left. As a result of this information, on January 5 police attended another residence in East Trail to arrest the suspect. A short standoff resulted when the suspectrefused to exit the residence, however he eventually did surrender and was arrested for threatening involving the use of a firearm. The suspect’s wife was also arrested for obstructing a peace officer.   A search warrant was subsequently executed at the suspect’s residence and the following items were seized: one pellet pistol, one pellet rifle, one pellet rifle with both the barrel and butt sawed off. Christopher Moubray, 22, was held in custody and appeared in Castlegar Provincial Court on Jan. 6 charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a handgun or imitation for the purpose of committing an offence, and engaging in threatening conduct. He was subsequently released by the court on a number of conditions, including a curfew and regular reporting to a bail supervisor. His next court appearance is on Feb. 9 in Rossland Provincial Court.

The female, 18, was released by the police with conditions on a Promise to Appear in Rossland Provincial Court on Feb.  9.
