Volunteer fire crews from Tarrys and Ootischenia departments responded to a fire near Lookout Road in Thrums Saturday afternoon.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. neighbours ran to 1407 Lookout Road approximately 10 kilometers east of Castlegar to inform the resident there was a fire in the back yard.

The resident had been working in his shop at the time and was unaware some of his vehicles were ablaze.

Fire crews were called however when trucks arrived an older Dodge truck and powerboat could not be saved.

Castlegar RCMP was also dispatched.

The fire remains under investigation.

However, a person at the scene thought burning embers floating in the air from another location and landing near the resident’s recreation vehicles may have caused the fire.
