Nelson Fire Department quickly extinguishes brush fire Monday

The quick response of the Nelson Fire Department put a stop to a brush fire Monday afternoon near the junction of Blewett and Fisherman’s Pit roads.
Between 2:30-3 p.m., NFD received a call of a brush fire near the Nelson Hydro substation.
The fire may be partly responsible for a power outage to the Taghum area, which started at around 2:30 p.m.
Three Nelson Firefighters and two trucks attended the scene as well as Nelson Hydro workers who isolated the substation in order to have power restore to Taghum.
The fire, which spread down the bank near the Nelson Hydro substation, was quickly extinguished by Nelson Fire Department members.
