Castlegar city council is excited to announce the recent approval of the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development ‐ Community Recreation Program grant funding in the amount of $400,000 for the construction of the Millennium Park Outdoor Natural Swimming Pool.
“The City of Castlegar appreciates the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Developments support of council’s ongoing efforts in addressing improvements to recreational spaces and providing opportunities for family‐friendly physical activities in our community,” said Mayor Lawrence Chernoff.
“The water pond project is a key element of the Millennium Park planning process that the community participated in last summer. We are very excited to see this funding help us begin work on the plan’s key project in the park.”
It is anticipated that detailed engineering will get underway this summer with the possibility of some earthwork starting in late summer/early fall with project completion slated for next summer. The project will cost an estimated $1.3 million to complete.
