Galbraith family/ Nature Trust of BC team up to create Kieran Galbraith Memorial Park Shoreacres Beach
Kieran Galbraith will be remembered forever as a new park on the banks of the Slocan River will be dedicated in his honour Sunday afternoon.
The 1.6 acres of shoreline along the picturesque Slocan River is being dedicated as the Kieran Galbraith Memorial Park Shoreacres Beach at 1 p.m.
The park is thanks to the generous contribution to The Nature Trust of BC to acquire and conserve the Shoreacres Beach property.
Nature Trust made the decision thanks to the George Galbraith family and friends in the memory of George’s son, Kieran.
“It is particularly timely, that this selfless act, to benefit the citizens of the Shoreacres area, by establishing this memorial park, coincides with the 100th anniversary of the settlement of Shoreacres and is truly a historically significant moment for the community,” the Nature Trust of BC said in a written release.
The Shoreacres Neighbourhood Community Association is extremely grateful to the Galbraith family and all of those who have provided assistance in creating this park and looks forward to establishing a mutually beneficial partnership with The Nature Trust of BC in the operation and conservation of this priceless natural asset over the next 100 years!”
