An accident at the corner of Broadwater and Robson access road Sunday has left one Castlegar man in hospital.

Police say that, at about 11:30 a.m., the driver of a truck (also from Castlegar) was turning left from Broadwater Road onto the access road when a mechanical glitch caused him to jolt forward, at which point he knocked a 25-year-old young man off his bike and down the embankment.

“The cyclist was taken to hospital with a dislocated hip and a fractured pelvis,” said RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew. “The 18-year-old male driver of the truck was given a violation ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act, and ordered to have his vehicle inspected.”

The driver of the truck was uninjured.
