Castlegar police are crediting the wisdom of local drivers for a lack of accidents in the area over the past two days, according to RCMP Cpl. Dan Pollock.

He said there was a collision at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Broadwater Road in Robson, one small accident Sunday, and a couple of cars in the ditch today – minor problems, considering how slippery and dangerous local roads have been.

He said Saturday’s accident in the 2700 block of Broadwater Road was likely a result of weather conditions.

“A four-door sedan was travelling east toward Castlegar and lost control on the slippery road,” he said. “It slid into the oncoming lane, where it was struck by a minivan heading west.”

He said the occupants were both wearing seatbelts and were treated by paramedics and released from the scene with only minor injuries.

As more snow is expected during the week, police caution drivers to remain vigilant and drive in a manner appropriate to conditions.
