Wide-spread rumours that a school bus flew off the road near Thrums and struck a tree this morning are inaccurate – but SD 20 superintendent Greg Luterbach said there is some truth to the rumour, insofar as buses being incapacitated by the weather today.

“We had multiple buses stuck throughout the district today due to the weather,” Luterbach said. “The bus near Glade (at Jenissa Road) had stopped to pick up kids and the driver pulled onto the shoulder as normal practice.

“After students were loaded and the driver attempted to pull back onto the road, the back tires spun and slid with the slope of the shoulder into the ditch.”

Luterbach said no one was injured in the event.
