The Clothesline Event will be held once again in our beautiful downtown Spirit Square at City Hall on April 23 from 11 a.m. to 1p .m. Organizers have chosen a theme for this year being “One Small Step” and supported with the quote from Margaret Mead:
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that has.

Count on seeing many displays representing all of the global incentives taking place around the world that are addressing the violence against women and children. Included will be Canadian Projects such as : YWCA (housing for women and children, support programs, recovery projects), Red Cross (RespectEd – Violence and Abuse Prevention programs), The Arose Campaign, I Am A Girl, No More Stolen Sisters, 1 Billion Rising, T-shirts from our Clothesline event, as well as the Men Speak Out initiative.

In addition, “One Small Step” will be looking at what is currently happening in OUR community and how can we collectively take “One Small Step”.

This will include initiatives in expanding and even more importantly supporting services and endeavors (that are constantly at risk of not being funded or funding being eliminated) that can help to address violence in our community and district.

Some of the programs being offered to support women and children at Castlegar and District Community Services are: Safe home program, Stopping the Violence Women’s Outreach, Victim’s Services, Children Who Witness, and Bridging for Women Program.

For more information please call CDCSS @ 250-365-2104.

Please come out and support our Women and Children in our community!
