The results are in for advanced polling Wednesday, Thursday and Friday so far (with Saturday’s due this afternoon) in the B.C. election, and while the province in general is seeing a voter-turn-out increase of about 20 per cent over 2009 numbers, Kootenay West district is very much on par, with only 14 more voters than we saw by this time in the 2009 election.

Kootenay East, despite having fewer registered voters, is enjoying a significantly greater turn-out.

In Kootenay West, in the first three days of polling, 2,074 voters have cast a ballot, of the 31,290 eligible voters. In 2009 by this time, 2060 Kootenay West constituents had made it to the polls, of 30,380 eligible voters.

In Kootenay East, 3,853 of 30,224 eligible voters have made their mark, as compared to 3,554 in 2009 (out of 28,909).

District Electoral Officer Don Vinish said Saturday is expected to bring in slightly lower numbers than the three days prior.

Election day is tomorrow, May 14 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
