Nine hints for a great Kootenay Festival Experience:

Wear comfortable walking shoes – you will be doing some wandering through the field to visit the various booths and events.

Bring the whole family – there will be lots of activities and events for all ages. But leave the dog at home please – it will not be allowed on site.

Plan to spend the day! Events start at 10:30 am and run to 7 pm

Sun screen, a hat and maybe a parasol/umbrella are good ideas. It will be a bit cooler than earlier in the week, but still pretty scorchy.

Stay hydrated – there will be lots of food and beverages available on-site, but a water bottle from home might be a good idea.

Bring a collapsible chair or blanket for sitting to watch the entertainment.

Take the MTI Shuttle bus from the Community Complex or the Station Museum. They will drop you right at the admissions booth and save a possible long walk from your parked car.

Take some ‘small’ money for admission (2.00 per person) and other purchases – food and crafts. For larger (impulse?) purchases bring your cheque book – many of the booths will not be set up to take credit or debit cards.

Don’t be surprised if you save the sales taxes – many artisans do not have to collect GST and/or PST, so purchasing directly benefits both the customer and the vendor (they aren’t paying commission to a commercial outlet either).
