Another tourist, another bite attack, another person in jail

It appears biting bouncers is making its rounds with tourists in Nelson of late.
For the second consecutive week, Nelson Police Department lodged a person in cells for biting staff members at a local drinking establishment.
Early Sunday morning (August 25), at Finley’s Pub on Vernon Street, officers received a call after a 27-year-old intoxicated female attacked the bouncer by biting and scratching him.
The incident was called in at 1:45 a.m. an alert staff member at Finley’s noticed a very intoxicated female attempting to enter the premises.
The bouncer refused her entry.
Her partner, also intoxicated, attempted to convince staff to let her in. During that conversation the female attacked the staff member.
Both, arrested for assaulting the staff members and causing a disturbance, were taken to NPD lock up before being released to travel home with numerous conditions to abide by until their court date in Nelson, September 10.
Last week a staff member at Spirit Bar in the Hume Hotel also was biten by an unruly patron.

Knife attack on Railway Street
Nelson Police continue to investigate a suspected attack using a knife Friday near the 500 Block of Railway Street.
The incident happened at around 4 p.m. when a man stole a wallet from another male.
The wallet owner gave chase before the suspect took out a knife and struck the owner on a cast on his arm.
The male then dropped the wallet and ran off.
Nelson Police searched the area for the culprit with no luck finding the suspect.
He was seen in the nearby park earlier in the day but was not known by any of the park users.
Mountain bike stolen
Saturday, (August 24) owners of a local bike shop reported a mountain bike was stolen.
The bike is described as a Black with red and yellow highlights Devinci Wilson large framed men’s mountain bike.
Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the bike is encouraged to contact the Nelson Police at 354-3919.
Public alcohol consumption on the rise
There were numerous incidents of people being found consuming liquor in public places over the weekend.
People should be aware this is in contravention of the Liquor Control and Licensing Act and carries a fine of no less than $230.
At the very least any liquor remaining will be seized and destroyed.
