Nelson RCMP request public assistance in finding suspect in assault

Nelson RCMP is requesting the public assistance in an attempt to identify the person or persons responsible for an assault that occurred on the evening of (Thursday) August 22 at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Highway 3A near 6-mile (North Shore).
The victim was hitchhiking when an unidentified vehicle stopped.
It appears a suspect or suspects exited the vehicle and commenced with the assault of the hitchhiker.
The motive for the attach remains unknown and is considered to be a random act of violence.
RCMP is asking anyone who may have witnessed this attack or have any information regarding the vehicle should contact Cst. S. Dimopoulos at the Nelson RCMP Detachment.
