Whether you’re looking to support a good cause, or just for a fun evening out filled with belly laughs and camaraderie, the Raise the Woof comedy tour is just what you need!

Coming to Castlegar to help support our own Kootenay Animal Assistance Program (KAAP), Raise the Woof is actually a comedy tour whose entire purpose is to raise money and awareness for animal rescues across Canada and the U.S.

“They’re good comedians, too – one of them was on Jay Leno,” said KAAP volunteer Laurel Mathew (for those of you wondering where you read that name on The Source before, Mathew is also Castlegar’s top cop). “All the money we raise will stay right here in the community, and go to spaying and neutering animals whose owners can’t afford to get it done, as well as rescuing dogs, cats, kittens and puppies who have been abused, abandoned or neglected, and finding them their forever homes.”

She said a lot of the funding also goes to medical care – some of the animals they’ve saved have been at death’s door as a result of starvation or abuse.

But back to the fun part – Raise the Woof will be held at the Element Club Bar and Grill, and will feature not only a hilarious comedic line-up, but also a silent auction filled with fabulous donations ranging from a free dental whitening to a dog sled ride; from massages to gift certificates to gas. There’s even an electric guitar and an emerald ring on offer!

Tickets are $20, and you can get them online at http://www.ticketweb.ca/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&eventId=3742794 or at the Element in Castlegar or Nelson Farmers Supply.

Dinner Reservations start between 5 and 6:30 p.m., or you can just come for the show (doors open at 7 p.m.). The 90-minute comedy show starts at 8 p.m.
