A crash that saw a vehicle roll down a ditch near Thrums last night appears to be alcohol related, according to Castlegar RCMP Cpl. Dan Pollock.

“On Sept. 12 at around 6:45 p.m., a member of the public observed a vehicle driving erratically and then going off road into the ditch on Highway 3A about four kilometers north east of Castlegar,” Pollock said. “The vehicle rolled over, injuring the driver and lone occupant.”

He said police responded and alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in the crash.

“The driver, a 67-year-old Castlegar woman, was transported to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital with non life-threatening injuries,” he added. “The driver was released from hospital this morning suffering only minor injuries.

“The RCMP have obtained blood samples from the driver for purposes of a toxicology analysis. The driver was released on a court date for Nov. 14 in Castlegar for impaired driving charges.”
