BC Coroners Service identifies victims of MVA near Moyie

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man and a woman who died following a motor vehicle incident near Cranbrook on Thursday (December 5) as Lyla-Maria Arcilla Mortensen of Slocan and Joel William Drew Franklin of Winlaw.
Mortenson, 18, was the driver and Franklin, 19, was the passenger in a vehicle which went out of control and collided with a pickup truck on Hwy 3/95 about 24 km southwest of Cranbrook near Moyie about 12:25 p.m.
Road conditions were noted to be very icy at the time.
Both Mortensen and Franklin were deceased at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate these deaths.
