Not everyone was filled with giving as Nelson Police realized during the recent Christmas season.

NPD officers dealt with at least three reports of thieves looking to take instead of give.

Tuesday (December 30)  around noon, police received a report of a shop-lifting from a local business in the 1000 Block of Lakeside Drive in Nelson.

Two male suspects had entered the business and forced open locked security cases and stole approximately $2,500 worth of electronics.

Police have seized surveillance footage of the suspects and identification is pending.

Make sure to lock those windows

Already getting a head start on a good night’s sleep, a lower Fairview resident awoke noises in her residence at about 9:30 p.m. Monday (December 29).

The resident was surprised to find a female in the hallway.

The stranger convinced the resident she had gotten the wrong house and left without incident.

However, the following afternoon the resident noticed an opened bathroom window and realized she had been the subject of a Residential Break and Enter.

During the investigation it was determined that there were two suspects who had tried multiple windows around the house before finding one unlocked.

A neighbour half a block away reported someone knocking on her knock at approximately 10 p.m. the same night.

Lakeside Driver business hit by B & E

Between Saturday, Saturday (December 27) and Sunday (December 28) a local business, in the 600-block of Lakeside Drive, was the subject of a Commercial Break and Enter.

During the commission of the offence, a large sum of cash, keys, and a safe were stolen.

The RCMP Forensic Investigation Team attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Mental related calls continue for NPD

The Nelson Police were very busy over the weekend responding to multiple mental health related calls as well as motor vehicle accidents due to weather conditions.

Thankfully there were no serious injuries resulting from these incidents.
