Police continue to deal with cases of telephone fraud across the region, the most recent in Trail, according to RCMP Cpl. Darryl Orr.

“On Oct. 21, the Trail & Greater District RCMP responded to a complaint of a fraudulent phone call.” Orr said. “A Trail resident had received an early morning phone call from a man claiming to represent the ‘Better Business Chief Executive Office Anti Fraud Division of Canada’.

“The male caller requested banking and credit card information from the
resident, which wasn’t provided. The Trail resident hung up on the male caller and then contacted police.”

While this situation had a comparatively happy ending, many locals have been taken in by various frauds.

“The Trail & Greater District RCMP wish to remind the public that very few if any legitimate agencies will request personal banking and credit card information, and that this information should not be provided.”
