Nelson Neptunes take to the road to win home meet

The Nelson Neptunes took advantage of some new surroundings to capture the opening meet of the Kootenay Summer Swim Association recently at the Salmo Pool.

The Neptunes, still waiting for renovations to be completed at the Nelson and District Aquatic Centre, swam away to win the meet by almost 300 points over second-place Grand Forks.

Not even the slightly longer than 25 meter pool or the unpredictability of the weather could slow down the Neptunes

Highlight swims came from Evan Chouinard (Division 1 boys) dropping close to 25 seconds in his 100 Individual Medley and Jaylen Rushton getting Provincial Qualifying times in all six of her events.

The Neptunes, which started the season training out of Castlegar in May before shifting operations Salmo for June to August, have risen up to the challenge of training without a home pool and have been consistently getting best times at every meet so far.

The Neptunes will be hoping to continue on their success in Castlegar when the Castlegar Aquanauts host the next meet from July 9-10.
