Live fire training slated for Trail
Starting Saturday, Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue has been conducting Live Fire Training in the parking area beside the fire hall in Trail adjacent to the brake check.
The training is being delivered by the Justice Institute of BC utilizing their new live fire trailer May 6, 7, and 8 as well as May 13, 14, and 15.
The trailer allows for controlled propane-fueled fires to deliver a safe live fire training experience for our firefighters. The trailer prop is designed to simulate fire attack from a simple room and content fire to evolutions that require above and below grade fire attack. There are also props that simulate car fires, liquid fuel fires and class A (wood) fires.
After completion of the training the fire fighters will accomplish their Live Fire I and II certification.
This training opportunity is essential to provide our firefighters with as real as possible live fire experience. This type of training develops our firefighters in a safe and controlled environment.
The Live Fire I and II training is a requirement for our firefighters NFPA 1001 Level II certification.
Please stay out of the area where the training is happening. If you would like to watch you are safe to do so from the sidewalk adjacent to the brake check.
