Doctor gives notice at Slocan Community Health Centre

Interior Health is advising residents of the Slocan Community Health Centre that on May 16, Dr. Mike Magier gave notice he will be leaving his position towards the end of the summer.
Magier has not given a formal date for his departure.
“Interior Health would like to acknowledge Dr. Magier for his decade-long service to this community and wish him well for the future,” the IH press release Tuesday said.
“We know he will be missed in the community.”
Interior Health said for the months ahead, there are no changes to the services we are providing in New Denver as Dr. Magier, Dr. Burkholder, nurse practitioner Donna Gibbons and staff will continue to support the care needs of local residents.
“Noting Interior Health just received notification from Dr. Magier last week, in the coming weeks we will be looking at how best to meet both longer term primary care and site needs,” the release said.
Interior Health said it is committed to keeping the community informed as new information is available.
