Castlegar man facing drug charges after five-person arrest

As a result of a July 4 search warrant conducted by the RCMP Joint Crime Reduction Unit and Castlegar RCMP, one adult male remains in custody, according to Castlegar RCMP Cpl. Jason Olney..
“Castlegar resident Andrew Lee Cancela, has been remanded in custody on two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Mr. Cancela is scheduled to appear in Castlegar Provincial Court on Monday, July 16. Three other adult males and 1 adult female, all residents of Castlegar, were released July 5 on Promises to Appear in Provincial Court in October.”
The substance is allegedly cocaine, but police are awaiting laboratory results for confirmation, says Olney.
