One person was taken to hospital after their vehicle rolled over near the Brilliant Dam this afternoon, according to Fire Chief Sam Lattanzio.

He said the Castlegar Fire Department got a call at 2:50 p.m, with a request for mutual aid from the Tarrys Fire Department.

“By the time we attended, the lone occupant of the vehicle was already in the care of BCAS and en route to hospital,” Lattanzio said. “We were there to deal with hazardous material, because fuel was spilling all over the highway.”

Highway 3A was reduced to single-lane, alternating traffic while the spill was dealt with, but is now back to dual lane traffic.

Police will be investigating the cause of the crash.
