A tent outside the Castlegar Emergency Room will be used for COVID-19 response, according to Karl Hardt, IHA senior communications consultant, media and government relations.

“The temporary structure outside the health centre is a triage tent to be used, if needed, for assessment of patients with mild to moderate respiratory symptoms who have been referred by a health care provider for a physical assessment,” Hardt explained.

“The referrals can come from family physicians or RNs at COVID testing or respiratory assessment clinics.

“This will serve, if needed, as an external triage zone to prevent the crossover of respiratory patients with patients at the hospital for other medical conditions.”

The tent is not in use at this time.
