  • Effective August 31, 2020, City Council meeting times will change to:
  • 2 p.m. – Committee of the Whole meetings
  • 7 p.m. – Regular Council meetings

  • Kent Smith was randomly selected as the Snow Buster award winner for 2019/20 from 15 nominees. This annual award program allows residents to nominate others who show great community spirit by assisting with snow clearing. ho show great community spirit by assisting with snow clearing A list of all nominees will be recognized in local media.
  • Council recommended appointing a voting delegate and alternate voting delegate for the Annual Municipal Insurance Association of BC AGM to be held during the virtual Union of British Columbia Municipalities Convention held Sept. 21-24, 2020. 
  • Council reviewed and recommended revisions to the draft Correspondence Policy which was requested to aid in the handling of correspondence sent to the City of Castlegar.
  • Council discussed two requests for Development Variance Permits related to lot sizes and setbacks. These recommendations will be on the agenda for the August 31, 2020 Regular Council Meeting for final approval.
  • Council approved changes to the City of Castlegar Computer Purchase Plan Policy.
  • Council authorized the issuance of a Development Permit at 875 Columbia Avenue to enable the expansion of the parking by approximately 162.6 square meters.
  • Council authorized the issuance of a Development Permit to Castlegar River Estates to enable a phased strata subdivision and construction of 34 residential unties at 100 18th Street.
  • Council directed staff to move ahead with interim measures by engaging Acti-Zyme Products Ltd. to treat both bio-solids drying beds at the South Sewage Treatment Plant and the further consider capital upgrades as part of the 2021 budget.
