Trail and Greater District RCMP has launched a criminal investigation after a disturbance escalated to an alleged assault, on Jan.14, 2021 at Red Mountain Ski Resort in Rossland, according to RCMP detachment commander Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

“Police were told by staff at the resort that an adult man, who declined to wear a non-medical mask or face covering contrary to Public Health Order, was being physically and verbally aggressive towards them,” Wicentowich said in a press release Monday. “The 61-year-old Rossland man allegedly pushed one employee, blew air in the faces of staff and coughed on others, including other patrons to the ski resort. The man has since been banned from returning to the resort, while Trail RCMP continue their criminal probe into the incident.

“Anyone who may have witnessed this event and has not yet spoken to police, or been victimized in anyway, is asked to contact the Trail and Greater District RCMP at 250-364-2566.”
