Motorist and dog escape vehicle blaze unharmed

A man and his dog are safe and sound after a vehicle fire between Warfield and Rossland, according to Trail RCMP Const. Sherri Karn.

“On April 15, at 4:17 p.m., Trail and Greater District RCMP received a report that a vehicle was on fire on Schofield Highway between Warfield and Rossland.” Karn said. “RCMP responded and located the male driver and his small dog safely roadside. Fire Services were already on scene and extinguishing the blaze.

“The owner stated that as he was driving down the hill towards Warfield he saw smoke coming from underneath the center console and it quickly turned to flames. The man was able to safely pull over and evacuate the vehicle before calling 9-1-1 for help.

“The fire is not being considered suspicious in nature by investigators. Fortunately, everyone was safe and uninjured throughout this ordeal.”
