Kayaker saves swimmer from Columbia's currents

A man has a kayaker to to thank for his life, according to Castlegar top cop RCMP Sgt. Monty Taylor

“On Sept. 15, at approximately 2:45 p.m., a kayaker while on the Columbia River in Castlegar observed a male who was in medical distress shortly after entering the river,” Taylor said..

“The kayaker was able to pull the 55-year-old male onto his kayak, and a short time later a boater came to assist. 

“The male, who is expected to make a full recovery, was transported to shore and later to hospital for medical assessment.
