On Friday, May 13, the City of Castlegar will be working on its water system to ensure optimum performance, maintain water quality, and increase storage of water for fire fighting.

As a result of this work, residents south of 17th Street (the railway tracks near Safeway) may notice a reduction or increase in water pressure. Exact pressure changes will vary and all homes will continue to be fed by pressures within the City’s acceptable guidelines.

Residents around 23rd Street and Columbia Avenue may notice temporary water quality changes. These can be cleared by running your cold water tap on full until it runs clear. This may take several minutes to accomplish.

The work begins at 7:30 a.m. and includes traffic control at the intersection at Columbia Avenue and 24th Street so minor delays should be expected.

The City of Castlegar is a service centre in the West Kootenay. The diversified and growing economy is focused on forestry, energy and mining sectors in the valley, and commercial services in the City. Quality of life features backcountry adventure and an increasingly dynamic urban culture, including the Millennium Park & Ponds and Sculpture Walk.
