LETTER: Sunfest Committee Needs Help

The Castlegar Festival Society organizes the Sunfest Weekend each year. We have just celebrated our 50th Anniversary. Sunfest weekend was back this year after the Covid-19 break and it was a huge success thanks to the committee, all the sponsors, and to all the residents and friends who took in the festivities. We had Festival in the Park, Miss Castlegar, Slo-Pitch, Tennis, Pickleball, parade, fireworks, and Kids Day to name just a few of the events. However, Sunfest is in trouble. We need new executive members!
After years of volunteering, our two top executive members have decided to step down and are hoping new executive members will step up to take Sunfest to new heights and maybe in a new direction. This is an urgent appeal. We need three to four community spirited people who like working as part of a team of volunteers to organize and execute one of the best community events of the year in our town.
Please consider joining our team. Contact us at castlegarsunfest@gmail.com for more information. Our AGM is the second Thursday of December, and we meet at the Castlegar Recreation Centre. Events like Sunfest do not happen by themselves. They happen when a score of dedicated volunteers come together to offer their skills and expertise in a common goal, to create a fun filled community event.
