Disturbance in the hospital emergency room leads to one arrest
On Friday, Feb. 7, at 1:18 a.m., frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a 41-year-old Bridesville man causing a disturbance in the emergency room at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, according to Trail RCMP detachment commander Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
“The man was allegedly intoxicated and yelling at staff after being denied a visitation in the hospital,” Wicentowich said. “He was initially escorted off the property by security; however, (he) returned.
“Officers attended and arrested the man. The man resisted the officers by flailing his body around. The officers, assisted by the security guards, safely brought the man under control and into police custody.”
The man was lodged until sober in the cell block at the Trail Detachment.
Staff have the right to refuse entry to anyone visiting the hospital who poses a safety risk and danger to other staff and guests. It is absolutely unacceptable to show up intoxicated and cause a scene. Please remember to be patient, respectful, and kind with staff when you visit the hospital,
said Wicentowich.
