A woman from Wardner is dead and two people are injured after a collision near Cranbrook, and BC Highway Patrol is seeking your help.

The collision happened on Feb. 11 just before 6 p.m. on Hwy 3 and 93, 15 km east of Cranbrook, when a white 2015 Dodge pickup truck with Alberta plates attempted to pass a semi-truck and collided head-on with a Pontiac Vibe. The driver of the Pontiac, a 62-year-old woman from Wardner, did not survive. The male driver of the Dodge and one passenger, also male, were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The highway was closed down for several hours to make it safe for first responders and preserve evidence.

While the cause of this collision is still under investigation, we are urging drivers to slow down, drive sober, and drive without distractions said Insp. Chad Badry, the Officer in Charge of BC Highway Patrol Kootenay region.

BC Highway Patrol is asking for anyone who may have seen the driving behaviour of the Dodge leading up to the collision, witnessed this collision, or who may have dashcam video to contact BCHP Cranbrook at 250-420-4244 and refer to file number 2025-373.
