Carbon monoxide claims life of Castlegar resident
This morning at 10:02 a.m. CFD was dispatched to a Hazmat response in the 3400 block of 4 Avenue, according to Castlegar Fire Chief Sam Lattanzio
“Upon arrival, RCMP were on scene and advised that there (was) the smell of gas present,” Lattanzio said. “CFD entered and recovered one male from the upper level that was deceased and rescued a second male from the basement level.”
He said a cat was also rescued.
“There were high levels of carbon monoxide present inside the residence,” Lattanzio said. “Once the scene was made safe, command was transferred to RCMP. Fortis BC and BCAS as well a KERPA respond(ing) to this incident.
“RCMP and BC Coroners Service are continuing the investigation.”
