Crash closes hwy, cyclist expected to recover from injuries
On March 5, at 4:14 p.m., frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP and BC Highway Patrol officers, Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue, and EHS responded to a report of a collision between a motor vehicle and cyclist in the 1400 block of Hwy 3B, near Warfield, according to Trail RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
“The 40-year-old Trail man was cycling from Warfield to Rossland when the vehicle struck him travelling in the same direction,” Wicentwich said. “BC Ambulance transported the man to the KBRH for medical attention. The man was injured; however, he is expected to fully recover. Hwy 3B was closed for approximately four hours while investigators examined the collision scene.”
The investigation into the events leading up to the incident is ongoing.
“We would like to thank all the first responders and civilians who assisted at the scene. The highway was closed to allow Trail RCMP and BC Highway Patrol to gather evidence from the scene. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding when being detoured,” Wicentowich said.
