Vehicle strikes/damages building beside Columbia Avenue
Shortly before 10:30 a.m. on March 18, Castlegar RCMP received a report that a vehicle with a lone occupant had driven off the roadway striking a building in the 800 block of Columbia Avenue in Castlegar, according to Castlegar RCMP top cop Sgt. Monty Taylor..
“Emergency services attended locating a black Jeep that appeared to have drove off the road, through the property’s fence, and into the building. Fortunately, the office space inside the building was unoccupied and no one was injured,” Taylor said. “Police spoke with 62-year-old male driver, who did not display signs of intoxication and witnesses, determining that prior to the collision the Jeep had been travelling North on Columbia Avenue when it unexpectedly left the roadway striking the property. The driver, who appeared uninjured as a result of the collision, was transported to hospital for further medical care.”
RCMP are continuing their investigation which includes the driver potentially suffering a medical episode prior to the vehicle leaving the roadway.
