RCMP seek to ID man who may be associated with violent assault
Trail and Greater District RCMP wants to identify the man in this photograph who may be involved in the assault that occurred on March, 2025, at the Beaver Valley Arena, in Fruitvale, according to RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.
He said the man is described as approximately 50-years-old, Caucasian, heavy build, with gray hair and a mustache, and wearing a gray cap, black jacket, and blue jeans.
“He may have in accompanied by a woman described approximately 50-years-old, Caucasian, with long brown hair, glasses, and wearing a black jacket and blue jeans,” Wicentowich said.
“If you know the identity of this person, please contact the Trail Detachment at 250-364-2566 to speak to an investigator.”

On Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 1:33 p.m., a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report about a 47-year-old Fruitvale man who was allegedly assaulted during a hockey game at the Beaver Valley Arena located at 1777 Green Road, in Fruitvale. The alleged assault occurred during the third period of the hockey game on Wednesday, March 18, 2025, between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
The dispute between the Fruitvale man and another man from Grand Forks, BC, began over the use of an air horn. The matter escalated into a physical fight between the men. The Fruitvale man was allegedly violently thrown to the ground and sustained serious injuries as a result. He was transported by BC Emergency Health Services to hospital for immediate medical attention. He remains at the hospital in serious condition.
The Grand Forks man is believed to be 40-50 years old. Trail RCMP wishes to speak to the man about the incident.
Trail RCMP continues to investigate.
