Come skate with the Canucks in Trail

This weekend, Saturday, April 26 at 12:15 p.m. there will be a very unique and exciting opportunity for the public to skate with Canucks alumni and mascot “Fin” at the Trail Memorial Centre.

The Canucks participants will include:

Kirk McLean Is among one of the most popular players to ever play for the Vancouver Canucks. Throughout his seventeen-year NHL career, he played for the New Jersey Devils. Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers, and New York Rangers, however he is best known for his ten and a half seasons with the Canucks, during which time he was a finalist for two Vezina Trophies, named to two NHL All-Star Games and received Second All-Star team honours. He also led the Vancouver Canucks through the 1994 Stanley Cup playoffs, all the way to Game Seven of the Stanley Cup final. In 2010, Mclean was inducted in the Vancouver Canucks’ Ring of Honour. In 2014 he was also inducted into the BC Hockey Hall of Fame, and in 2021 into the BC Sports Hall of Fame. Kirk lives in Vancouver and Is a Vancouver Canucks Team Ambassador.

Rod Brathwaite started working for Hockey Canada in 2000 in the BC Centre of Excellence. While working for Hockey Canada. Rod coordinated and executed all the Minor Hockey programs for the Vancouver Canucks. He also coordinated and executed all the Nike Skills programs throughout BC for close to 7 years. Today, Rod runs all the minor hockey programs for the Vancouver Canucks and is the team liaison for the Vancouver Canucks Alumni. Rod’s career highlight to date was getting the opportunity to drop the puck at centre ice at last year’s Canucks home game in celebration of Black History Month.

Fin the Whale, Vancouver Canucks’ mascot, has captivated fans since 2001. Beyond his game day antics and entertaining antics on the ice, Fin is a tireless ambassador for charitable causes. He’s often seen at schools, hospitals, and charity events, spreading positivity and smiles throughout the community. He symbolizes the unity and spirit of the Canucks, reinforcing the team’s special place in the hearts of Canucks fans.
