Trail man found deceased in yard, drugs believed to be a factor
On Saturday, May 24, at 9:41 p.m., frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue firefighters responded to a report of an unconscious 61-year-old Trail man outside of a residence in the 700 block of Elliot Street, in Trail, according to RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich .
“The man had been hired to complete work at the property by the owner,” Wicentowich said. “Early in the day, a witness found the man slumped over in a chair and unresponsive. The witness called 911 and reported the emergency. Officers and firefighter responded immediately.
“Firefighters attempted to revive the man on scene but were ultimately unsuccessful. An officer seized drug use paraphernalia during the incident.”
He said foul play is not suspected. The incident was turned over to the BC Coroner’s Service.
Trail RCMP suspect the consumption of drugs to be a factor in the man’s death. The opioid crisis continues to claim lives everyday in Canada,
he said.
