Trail man arrested, attempts to flee from Trail RCMP officer
On Saturday, August 2, at 7:35 p.m., a frontline Trail RCMP officer was patrolling in a marked police vehicle when she spotted a 40-year-old Trail man with an outstanding arrest warrant standing outside a business in the 700 block of Victoria Street in Trail.
Trail RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich said the officer approached the man and placed him under arrest. The man allegedly attempted to flee on foot, however, the officer was able to pursue and capture him, effectively taking the man down to the ground and maintaining control until a second officer arrived. Both officers took the man into custody and lodged him into the Trail Detachment cell block.
The 40-year-old Trail man remains in police custody awaiting his bail hearing before a Provincial Court judge.
The man may now face additional charges pending charge approval by BC Prosecution Service.
