On March 17, the Trail RCMP applied for a search warrant for a residence in the West Trail area. The application was approved, and on March 18, with the assistance of the Southeast District Emergency Response Team, the search warrant executed safely.

Two people were located inside the residence and taken into police custody. As a result of the search, evidence was located to support two criminal charges against one resident. The second resident was released from police custody without charge.

As a result of the investigation, 43-year-old Peter Burgie has been charged with two counts of possessing a firearm or ammunition while prohibited.

“The safety of the public and our officers is always our top priority when conducting enforcement activities,” said Trail RCMP Detachment Commander S/Sgt. Dave Johnson. “We appreciate the cooperation of community members, which allows police to carry out these operations as safely and effectively as possible. This is a great example of the hard work and dedication our police officers here at the Trail Detachment.”
