Updating BC Parks day-use pass reservation service

The BC Parks day-use pass reservation service is being updated to strengthen security and improve distribution of the passes, ensuring a transparent and consistent process for accessing four popular parks during peak season.
Starting Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, people booking a day-use pass will need to create an account on the BC Parks website and verify their identity. Having a secure account helps ensure passes are reserved and distributed fairly when demand is high. The changes will also help people manage their reservations.
People encouraged to create account with BC Services Card account
People are encouraged to create their BC Parks account using their BC Services Card account for streamlined access to a variety of B.C. government services. People who do not have a BC Services Card account can create a BC Parks account using their email and password.
After creating an account, people will receive an email to verify their identity. A reservation cannot be made until the associated email is verified.
The changes and additional security measures are being implemented to help reduce interference from digital bots and other misuse.
Passes required at four parks during peak season
Day-use passes have proven to be an effective tool for managing the number of people in Golden Ears, Joffre Lakes, Garibaldi and Mount Seymour parks during peak season. The passes help prevent congested parking lots, roads, trails and viewpoints, and help reduce the effects on the environment.
The passes will be available online at 7 a.m. two days prior to a planned visit. In Garibaldi Park, day-use passes are required at the Cheakamus, Rubble and Diamond Head trailheads from Friday through Monday and on holidays, until Oct. 12, 2026. Passes will resume at Joffre Lakes Park on Oct. 1, 2026, and will be required every day until Oct. 25, 2026.
