Police are asking for public assistance in identifying the perpetrator of an armed robbery in Castlegar Wednesday morning, according to RCMP Sgt. Darryl Little.

“On Nov. 13, at approximately 11:15 a.m., a male entered the Paragon Pharmacy located at #117- 1983 Columbia Ave. … and pulled out what is described as shotgun, demanding money and prescription medication,” Little said.

“The employees acted appropriately by following the male’s directions and allowing him to leave with some medication and an undisclosed amount of cash.

“The male entered through the front of the store exiting via the rear door, which faces east,” he added. “The male is described as early 20s, (roughly) 5′ 8″, (with a) slim build. At the time he was wearing a grey-and-dark-blue winter coat of unknown length, dark coloured pants (either sweats or jeans), and wearing dark-coloured gloves. His face was covered with an unknown fabric or mask. No one was physically injured during the robbery.”

Little said police automatically set up roadblocks and patrols, but were unable to apprehend a suspect.

“We’ve got information and tips coming in, and we’ve got to start running them down – but we hope the public continues to share information with us. They could have the tip that solves the whole thing.”

He said staff and patrons at the store will be offered help coping with the traumatic event by Victims Services.

Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP at 250-365-7721 or to contact Crime Stoppers.
