Rash of B&Es spurs police to request public assistance

Police are requesting public assistance after six break-and-enters Friday night, according to RCMP Sgt. Laurel Mathew.

“Castlegar RCMP are investigating a rash of commercial break and enter crimes that occurred overnight on Aug. 19. The break-ins were discovered early the next morning. Two of the break-ins were on 6th Ave., two in Blueberry, one on Columbia Road and one on Minto Road.

“Suspect(s) had gained entry into all businesses.”

She said the crimes appear to be related, and urged residents to come forward with any information they might have.

“Police are confident that someone knows who is responsible for these incidents and are asking the public to call either the Castlegar RCMP at (250)365-7721 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS with any information.”
