Diligent police work leads to arrest of prolific offender in Castlegar this morning
A local prolific offender was arrested in the wee hours of Thursday morning, according to Castlegar top cop RCMP Sgt. Darren Oelke.
“At 1:45 a.m., one of our members on patrol noticed tracks in the fresh snow which led him to believe a vehicle was driving erratically,” Oelke said. “He followed the tracks and found a male sitting in a vehicle just off 14 Ave by Kinnaird Park.
“The vehicle had been reported stolen the day before out of Trail.”
He said the man in the driver’s seat was known to police for prolific property offenses.
“He was arrested without incident.”
A 43-year-old Castlegar man has been released on strict conditions, including a curfew, pending his first court appearance on April 17 in Castlegar.
Charges have not yet been sworn.
