BC RCMP Major Crime has been called in to investigate suspicious death near Chase
The BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit has deployed to the Shuswap region to assume an investigation into the unexpected death of a woman, according to RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey
On April 27, a short time after 11:30 p.m., front line Chase RCMP officers were dispatched to a residence situated in the 8600-block of Holding Road near Adams Lake. Once on scene first responders found a deceased woman inside the home.
An adult male was taken into police custody, without incident, by front line RCMP officers at the scene, said Staff Sgt. Scott Aschenbrenner, Unit Commander of the Southeast District Major Crime Unit. He adds that, although a full determination surrounding criminality has not yet been made, the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are being considered suspicious in nature at this time.
The victim has been identified as a 60-year-old woman. The man taken into police custody was well known to the deceased, and the RCMP do not believe there is any risk to the general public.
The BC Coroners Service has been notified, and has launched its own concurrent fact-finding investigation into the woman’s unexpected death.
The RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit has taken over the ongoing investigation and continues to be supported by the Chase RCMP.
