To The Editor:

The Nelson Leafs Hockey Society Board of Directors, Organization, Coaching Staff, Players and Fans would like to send our utmost sincere condolences to the Humboldt Broncos Hockey Organization, of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

This tragedy hits to the core foundation of all involved in hockey and its fabric within Canada.

To The Editor:

When I use the terms: fee, tax and price, there is always money involved; but the context varies.  When we pay the price of a dozen eggs – it is clear what the money is for.  Similarly, a fee is often attached to a service such as having others deal with my waste at the Transfer Site.

A tax has a different rationale.  Whether governments...

To The Editor:

The release (March 29th, 2018) of a public report by the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) into the fatal police-involved shooting (near Slocan) that occurred in October 2014, raises a number of concerns.

While...

By coincidence, we both arrived in Castlegar around the same time (nearly four years ago for Greg and three years for Elizabeth).

We've both noticed that when friends from elsewhere ask us about Castlegar we generally respond with something like, "I love it here!”

And recently we've both noticed that public dialogue in the Castlegar area has deteriorated, and quickly. It seems...

I have been thinking about the comments that say why we should NOT be going through with a larger Regional Community Comlex.

I ask the people that are opposed this question:   How many of us leave this community to travel to Kelowna, Spokane, Calgary, or any larger center - to get a better deal for our buck?   Have you ever asked yourself  why you do that?    It could be because they...

This second by-law, #2388, 2014 is for animal (dog) control services.

The RDCK used a method of voting called the Alternative Approval...

To The Editor:

Recently, I sent a letter to Minister Michelle Mungall asking that subsidies to the fossil fuel sector be eliminated.  Some time later, a letter from her office informed me that there are no subsidies – no public money is paid to the fossil fuel sector; but rather “targeted royalty programs”.  With the announcement on March 22nd that...

To the Editor,

I wanted to follow up on your February 28, 2018 article (Some good news from Teck. And other things to consider) and provide some additional context for your readers on the extensive work Teck has underway to protect water quality in the Elk Valley.

Selenium is a naturally-occurring element throughout the environment, the release of which can be...

To The Editor:

Last week turning at the junction onto the steep icy Cedar Street's one way street system from Silica to Vernon St., I encountered a grey Toyota SUV speeding up the wrong way. I had to brake hard, skidded, missing the vehicle by a few inches. This is the second time I've met a vehicle coming up the same hill recently. A few days ago, a...

To The Editor:

Kinder Morgan may promise jobs in the short term, but will never guarantee clean-up for a tar-spill on the coast, or along the pipeline.

Ms. Notley's braggadocio sounds as conservative as B.C.'s former Liberals under Christy Clark. How can that be, given Ms. Notley's leadership in the NDP, a party that has stood for protection of...
