Source slammed for city coverage

In a shocking turn of events, Castlegar city councillor and Green Committee chair Kevin Chernoff has taken exception to The Source’s headline indicating Castlegar will “relinquish” the Earth Hour Cup it has proudly displayed for two years now.

“Who says we’re going to relinquish it?” Chernoff said. “The Cup was designed for competition within the tri-city area (Castlegar, Trail, Nelson), and we beat them this year, again.”   In the region, Castlegar placed fifth, Nelson 10th and Trail 14th.   “So far as I’m concerned, that Cup’s still ours,” he said, adding that if they want to take it back, Nelson and Trail have to actually beat us in something …a wrestling match, perhaps … to take place in Spirit Square Friday morning (April 1).   However, until such time as one of the other tri-city communities bests Castlegar, he said the Cup will remain here, where it belongs, happily ever after. Castlegar Mayor Lawrence Chernoff declined to comment on the issue. “I want absolutely nothing to do with any of this,” he said.
