On 7 September, Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird announced that Canada is suspending all diplomatic relations with Iran, expelling all Iranian diplomats, closing its embassy in Tehran, and authorizing Turkey to act on Canada's behalf for consular services there. Baird cited Iran’s enmity with Israel, its support of Syria and terrorism. "Canada views the government of Iran as the most significant threat to global peace and security in the world today," Baird said at the Asia Pacific Economic Conference in Vladivostok, Russia.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Khamla Wong

Charges have been laid against six men involved in the importation of multi-kilos of cocaine into Canada and exporting ecstasy into the U.S. after a multi-year investigation.

The charges follow a Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) investigation that spanned B.C, California, Mexico and Peru. CFSEU’s investigation was initiated in 2008 following information from the Drug Enforcement Administration that Canadian and American-based citizens were using a sophisticated system of encrypted smartphones to communicate and organize drug transactions on an international scale.

Egyptian President, Mohamed Morsi, strongly backed the Syrian rebels Thursday in a speech at the Non-Aligned Movement Summit in Iran. Morsi, a Sunni Muslim and member of the Muslim Brotherhood, is the first Egyptian leader in 30 years to visit Iran – an ally of Syrian Prime Minister Bashar al-Assad's Shi'ite dominated regime.

Yesterday, in front of the USS Wisconsin in Norfolk, Virginia, presumptive Republican presidential nominee, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney selected Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as his running mate.

It's official.

Canada has won its first medal in a traditional team sport in the Summer Olympics since the 1936 games in Berlin.

Diana Matheson scored in extra time, blasting a rebound in the vacant goal to give Canada a 1-0 victory over France in the bronze medal match Thursday at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England.

Out shot by a staggering 25-2 margin, including a couple of saves by the posts and crossbar behind Canadian keeper Erin Macleod, Canada saved its best for last.
